Cachaito LopezIntroductionCachaíto López - featuring Miguel 'Angá' Díaz Cachaito’s ground-breaking CD was released in 2001 by World Circuit This show is the most extraordinary and intense journey into Cuban rhythm and percussion. It's fresh, different and packed with sensational musical talent. Cachaito López, Cuba's finest bassist and heartbeat of the Buena Vista Social Club teams up with Miguel 'Angá' Díaz, the mightiest conguero in Cuba whose credits stretch across the jazz and Latin diaspora from Irakere to Steve Coleman. The influences stretch from dub reggae through improvised to jazz and DJ culture. This is reflected in the radical instrumentation: the scratching of DJ Dee Nasty - the legendary pioneer of French hip hop on the decks, Hammond organ, Fender Rhodes, the electric guitar of Manuel Galbán (fresh from recording his solo CD with Ry Cooder), soloists including Yaure Muñiz (trumpet) 'Polo' Tamayo (flute), Jimmy Jenks (tenor sax). And much, much more. An aural feast for the heart and soul. Cachaito López & Miguel 'Angá' Díaz - the soundtrack to a film noir never made. |
