Representing

Ibrahim ferrer

It is with profound sadness that we have to announce the passing of Ibrahim
Ferrer, who died in Havana, Cuba on Saturday August 6th, at the age of 78.

Ibrahim Ferrer first rose to worldwide fame with his inspired performances
on the Buena Vista Social Club album and film, which led to a marvellous last
9 years of his life. Ibrahim's distinctive, emotional interpretations of
songs marked him out as a truly special artist with tremendous
improvisational skills and he was known for being one of the last great
interpreters of the bolero.
His charismatic performances touched the hearts of audiences of all ages
throughout the world, who felt genuine affection and respect for such a
gloriously unaffected and talented star.

Off-stage, Ibrahim was a very humble, spiritual, caring and warm-hearted man
devoted to his wife and family and to his friends and homeland. His rise to
fame gave him a youthful vigour and a zest for life that saw him regularly
touring, recording and winning awards worldwide and he played an integral
part in the phenomenal worldwide interest in Cuban music.

The memory of a unique artist and, above all, the inextinguishable youth of
an extraordinary man will live on in our hearts, always.
