Introduction

BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB ™ presents
Cachaito López, ‘Guajiro’ Mirabal, Manuel Galbán, ‘Aguaje’ Ramos

This extraordinary line-up of Buena Vista Social Club™ stalwarts, together with an 11-piece band direct from Havana, are set to bring audiences some of the finest Cuban music ever made.

Echoing the classic Motown and Stax revue shows of the 1960s these unique live shows will take audiences on a musical excursion going from the original Buena Vista Social Club™ recordings of 1996 right up to the present day. Cachito, Guajiro Mirabal and Manuel Galbán will each feature material from their acclaimed solo albums, while Jesús ‘Aguaje’ Ramos looks to the future, showcasing material from his forthcoming solo album due for release on World Circuit later in 2006, ten years after the original Buena Vista album.

The ‘heartbeat of the Buena Vista Social Club™’ bass player Cachaito Lopez is the only musician to have played on every track on every album in the World Circuit Buena Vista Social Club™ series. Cachaito’s groundbreaking debut album on World Circuit, “Cachaito” which won the BBC Radio 3 World Music Award for the entire Americas, was reckoned by the Independent to be a masterpiece.
Guajiro Mirabal’s distinctive trumpet sound has accompanied virtually every Cuban star you could mention. His blistering tribute to the son conjuntos of the great Arsenio Rodríguez, “Buena Vista Social Club™ presents Manuel Guajiro Mirabal” has been nominated for a Latin Grammy and its release was met with widespread praise: “brilliant” New York Times.
Jesús ‘Aguaje’ Ramos’ trombone has been an integral part of World Circuit’s Cuban recordings for the past decade, and both his playing and bandleading skills have also made him a key feature on various Buena Vista tours. Aguaje’s debut solo album was recorded in Havana’s legendary EGREM studios and features the cream of Cuba’s musical talent.
Guitarist, pianist and organist Manuel Galbán made his name with seminal Cuban doo-wop group Los Zafiros, and in recent years has appeared on a number of albums and tours in the Buena Vista series. His duets album with Ry Cooder “Mambo Sinuendo” won a Grammy in 2004.

Each of these artists has an individual take on the gamut of Cuban music, and they’ve each put their stamp on son montunos, danzón, cha cha cha, boleros, and Cuban jazz. Having honed their skills over many years their passion for the music has remained, and this enigmatic group of musical giants perform with an exuberance that is vital as ever. After ten years as the backbone of the Buena Vista Social Club™ and Ibrahim Ferrer’s live band and award winning albums, this esteemed group get their own chance to shine
